About Alvernia University
Alvernia is a private Franciscan college founded in 1958 by the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters. Their values of social justice and peacemaking lie at the core of a quality, holistic academic program that includes 50 undergraduate areas of study, five graduate degrees, one doctoral degree, and several certification programs for education professionals. Enrollment exceeds 2,800 women and men: 1,400 undergraduates; 620 evening undergraduates; and 780 graduate students at Reading, Philadelphia, and Pottsville campuses.
